This is a two-day event, although many people will make the most of the weekend and perhaps travel down on Friday night.

CORFE CASTLE, OLD HARRY ROCKS AND SWANAGE TRAIL

A lovely, but can be challenging in places, scenic guided walk in Dorset. Starting at the foot of the majestic Corfe Castle and working our way to the fabulously quaint seaside town of Swanage.

- Day two – a scenic inland trek of just 4.5 miles, includes a woodland trail and a hidden lake.

This hotel is 8 miles from our start location. I have stayed here numerous times whilst visiting family and always had a good experience. A typical Premier Inn. The rooms are clean, the buffet breakfast is hot and you will get a good nights sleep. Prices change daily from £54 to £110 a night, so book asap!
YHA Swanage – From £15 per night – basic but always good value for money.
A large, sea-facing Victorian villa, YHA Swanage is situated five minutes’ walk from the award-winning beach of Swanage – the only Blue Flag beach along the entire Dorset Jurassic Coast. The hostel has been recently refurbished for 2018 and is now better than ever. Spend a restful holiday building sandcastles, paddling in the sea and sampling local ice cream or alternatively, give coasteering or diving a go on this rugged coastline.

Day One – Saturday is a 12-mile walk starting from the National Trust Car Park at Corfe Castle at 10 am). (parking charges apply unless you are an NT member).
We pass by the majestic ruin of Corfe Castle, stroll along with Allwood Down and Nine Barrow Down, enjoying fantastic views over Poole Harbour on the east and the Purbecks on the west.
We walk by Studland Hill and Ballard Point before making our way to the dramatic and most easterly point of the Jurassic Coast – Old Harry Rocks. If you are brave enough then take the thin path to the edge of one of the chalk formations. We then take the steep descent into Swanage for well-deserved ice cream and a glass of something cold!
We will sort out the logistics of getting to Corfe / Swanage via the steam train a bit nearer the time (depending on where people are staying).
We will stop to enjoy lunch from the cafe (or bring your own) along the way.
The evening is yours to do with what you wish. If you wish to join us for something to eat then let us know and we will let you know the arrangements.
DAY 2 – A SHORT 4.5 MILE WALK
If your legs are up to it then join for the 2nd day of walking. Day two takes a short 4.5 miles walk inland from Corfe Castle. We work our way up onto the ridgeway and once again enjoy stunning views. We then work our way down a rather steep decline before a leisurely walk along the flat through the woods. We will discover hidden lakes and lots of wildlife on day two. We will finish at the tea room in Corfe Castle and enjoy a freshly cooked scone and a brew, before heading home.
Once the deposit has been paid then you will be invited to join the AG Trip planner which has much more detail for this trip, including a chat area for those on the event to organise transport / car sharing etc.
Age Limit
Adventure Geek Walks are open to anyone over the age of 10. However, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Food & Drink
Please note we do not supply any food or drinks for this day walk, you will need to bring your own packed lunch etc. There is a breakfast available if you decide to stay at Norden Camp Site of hot bacon rolls, coffee and tea.
Dogs
Our furry friends are welcome on this trip.

There are no permissions expressed or implied by the Adventure Geek organisers. Participants make use of the facilities at their own risk and without express permission from the Adventure Geek organisers.
Walking is a physically active sport. If you have any doubts about your abilities, you should always seek advice from your GP before embarking on an Adventure Geek walk.
By registering for an event you accept that you do so entirely at your own risk and that it is your responsibility to ensure that you are fit and able to take part in the event. We regroup often and our walks cater for all levels of fitness.
Children under the age of 16 years old are the responsibility of their parents or guardians and need to be accompanied at all times before, during and after the walk.
Adventure Geek volunteers do not accept responsibility for injury, loss and damage sustained by a participant unless the above injury, loss and damage are proven to have been caused as a direct result of negligence on the part of the organisers.
Dogs are welcome on the majority of our walks, however, we kindly ask that only one dog per walker and that the welfare of the animal remains your responsibility throughout your walk. On occasion, we may add a note of “No dogs allowed” on specific walks (usually those with cattle), please respect this note.
