As a modern day pilgrim, I do not feel that you have to suffer to walk the Camino. If there are gadgets and items that make your life that little bit easier then why not indulge?
My work colleagues have been laughing at me this week as little Amazon parcels keep appearing at the office. They all wait with anticipation as I tear off the out wrapper to reveal my latest purchase. (you can find my packing list here).
In true generation style… on the conveyor belt this week was:-
Craghoppers Kiwi Trekking Trousers.
Rachel tried these on at Go-Outdoors and would not consider trying any other walking trousers on as she just loved these. They are a tight fit (they look like leggings). As they are made by Craghoppers they are water resistant, and also sun repellent, so we were both happy bunnies. I am a fan of Craghoppers, so I was chuffed that she decided to go with these. They are extremely lightweight, drys quickly and I think they will work well for her.
Craghoppers Kiwi Pro Stretch Skort
The Skort (shorts underneath and a skirt on top), was an instant hit for Rachel (I’m way too old for one of these!). It is comfortable to wear, dries very quickly and has multiple pockets. I can see Rachel wearing this nearly every day rather than the trousers, but at least, she has a change of clothes if things get dirty.
Base Layers
I have read online that it is best to wear layers rather than thick jumpers to keep warm, so I have invested in two very good base layers (long arm) shirts, as well as micro fleeces for us both this week. Go-Outdoors have some excellent deals on at the moment. Perhaps I should think about buying shares?
Shewee
If you have no idea what a Shewee is then this video probably explains it much better than I can! (Whether I will use it is another blog in itself!). You should have seen the faces in the office when I opened it up to show everyone! lol
Compeed Blister Plasters
There are mixed reviews online about Compeed plasters, so I thought I would buy a small pack and keep them in my pack for safe keeping. My biggest fear for the whole walk is not the distance, or the steep hills or even the bed bugs – I am just worried that I will get blisters. I have put together a mini blister pack which includes a sewing kit (for draining the blisters, regular plasters, cotton socks, and vaseline). I know to keep my feet dry and to limit friction, and also to treat hot spots as soon as they appear, but I still worry that I will get them. (Seen too many YouTube video on this subject!).

Rofl I can’r believe you bought SheWee!!! Can’t wait to hear how you and Rachel get on using them. #loveyouloads x
I am not sure that I will blog about us actually using them! lol. But I will tell you when I see you next 🙂
