This is one of our Adventure Geek Travel holidays – six days of snowy landscapes, medieval towns, mountain adventures and one rather unforgettable team of huskies.
We’ll journey through beautiful Transylvania, exploring the storybook streets of Brașov, Sighișoara and Sibiu, stepping inside legendary Bran Castle and discovering the history and culture of this fascinating part of Romania.
Then comes one of the highlights – a husky sled ride through the snowy landscape. There’s also the option to add even more adventure with quad biking, an alpine coaster and winter activities along the way.
We’ll travel high into the Făgăraș Mountains by cable car to Bâlea Lake, surrounded by snow-covered peaks. Depending on conditions, we’ll stay either at the famous Ice Hotel or in a cabin beside the frozen lake – a wonderfully unusual place to spend the night.
With castles, mountain scenery, traditional Romanian food and plenty of time for laughter along the way, this is less of a walking holiday and much more of a proper winter adventure.

You don’t need to be a regular hiker for this trip. You’ll need to be comfortable exploring towns and attractions on foot and getting around in winter conditions, but the more energetic activities are optional.

A good place to start if you're building your confidence or fitness.
