Welcome

Discover a side of Northampton that many of us walk past without ever really noticing.

Join Kelly and fellow Adventure Geeks for a fascinating guided walking tour exploring Northampton’s world-famous boot and shoe heritage. We’ll discover historic factories, hear stories about the people who worked in the industry and find out why Northampton became known around the world for its shoes.

Even if you’ve lived locally for years, there’s a good chance you’ll discover something you never knew about the town.

The tour is provided by Step Forward with Lewis, whose walking shoe tours usually last around 2½–3 hours and take place entirely outdoors.

A Little Taster

Northampton’s shoemaking history stretches back around 900 years. By 1894 there were more than 500 shoe factories in the town, and just before the First World War nearly half the population worked in shoe and leather manufacturing.

There’s even a James Bond connection: both Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig wore Northampton-made shoes as Bond.

Price – £10 per person

⚠️ Payment method:  Look out for your next email which will give you Kelly’s bank details to pay her direct.
